Home Shopping vs. Snacking on light bulbs

The latter might be more fun. We are zero for 2 in the offer arena. I really don't want to be a downer in my Three's Company blog, especially when this is the best time of my life (so far)! A big HOWEVER, this is the most discouraging, heart-breaking, frustrating, I-want-to-quit period of my life. Granted, I have been VERY fortunate not to have been tested much in my life (like taking the Bar or battling a life-threatening disease or giving labor or appearing on Survivor) but nonetheless, it sucks. This is why....

Think about the process of putting an offer on a home...you visit dozens of them (70+ in our case)...you find one you like.....you picture yourself in that home, you place your furniture in each room, you picture your friends & family coming to visit, holidays and making a family in that home and you see it all. So you decide to put an offer on that house b/c it has to be yours. And you wait and wait and wait, increasingly excited about moving in and starting your life there. And then you find out that there were multiple offers (in BOTH cases!!) and they went with another offer. It's so much more emotional than I thought it would be. Of course, I thought it was a lot easier than this too.

So, in this time of great recession and cut backs, homes are flying off the market - an average of 30% of homes had offers put on them before we could even see them! On a brighter note, this is encouraging in the midst of all the 'down market' discussions.

On an even BRIGHTER note, a wedding update!...actually, nothing more to tell except that I'm really excited about my bridal portrait this weekend! 52 days left!

Who let the lap dogs out?

We are dog sitting this weekend! My friend Nikki has a princess of a dog (I mean Prince) named Louie Vuitton. Louie is waaaay stressed around Shelby. He is used to running his household with no fussy, jumpy, hyper dogs running around. Needless to say, it will be a true test of Louie's patience and Shelby's self-confidence....her offers to play have been rejected countless times.

This is what you get after all that energy has been used:

Aren't they precious?! It's going to be a very long weekend for Louie but I think he is adjusting :)

We are meeting up with Mrs. Durst tomorrow. She has been SO nice to bring our wedding gifts up from the shower. I really have been wanting to play with all of them :)

Wedding update: 57 days left! I'm starting to see dresses that I NEED for my honeymoon! Bridal portrait location has been booked - finally taking this next weekend and can't wait to go home! Beau has officially hidden the wedding bands from me and I can't find them anywhere. I hope he doesn't forget where he put them! He is ordering groomsmen gifts this weekend (even though he doesn't know it yet :)) and we have GOT to schedule our next meeting with the Deacon.....

Hotel St. Stacey

For the record, the house in the previous post is the HOTEL! NOT the house we put the offer on! I didn't even realize the post read that way - quite embarrassing:) The only update I have is that we did not get the house, the seller actually kept us in a "back up position" for several days without telling us. It was quite hurtful since we waited hour by hour for a response when the whole time they were countering with another offer. I know I shouldn't take it personally but it's difficult not to when you really want something and other people hold the decision in their hands.

Regardless, I'm boycotting the home buying process and leaving it up to Beau. No pressure... ;-)

Happy Valentine's Day!

Today has been quite relaxing and yet, stressful at the same time. I didn't even know that was possible! We put an offer down on a house a couple of days ago (along with several other couples) and are STILL waiting to hear which offer they are going with. They can come back at any minute so we have been hanging around the house all day waiting and waiting. I have watched Mother In Law, How to lose a guy in 10 days (a personal favorite b/c it reminds me of how I treated Beau in the first 2 weeks of our courtship!), Sweet Home Alabama and The Break Up later this evening. I LOVE vegging! We are making turkey tacos tonight - quite a difference from the surprise reservations Beau had for us at Hotel St. Germain. However, putting an offer on a house will change your priorities pretty fast! I love cooking with Beau so I'm perfectly content with our decision to stay in!

Wedding Update: 63 days til the wedding! The bridesmaids are overall pleased with the dresses (whew!), the dress has arrived in CC and my Dad LOVES it, we are finalizing bouquets, invitations are being addressed and going out any day and bachelorette wknd details are coming together - love my sisters!!

I always knew I was meant to wear a crown

But not on my tooth. :-( Have you been to the dentist lately (b/c I haven't)?! Have you seen the amazing technology they have these days? There I was, mouth open so they could investigate my chipped molar, when they showed me footage of my teeth on a screen in real time. And it was then that they showed me all my OTHER problems: cracked molars from 20+ years of metal fillings. I would like to preface this by saying I take great care of my teeth. My parents always took great care of my teeth. Dental hygiene is up there with personal finances and common courtesy of others - it was drilled into me. So why was I seeing MY teeth CRACKING?! I'm sure most anyone who reads this has had some sort of old school metal fillings from back in the day...well, go to the dentist. But take your wallet!

So, in addition to the chipped tooth that needs a crown, I have cracking that needs to be addressed. Wish me luck!

This isn't a photo of my tooth but it's exactly what is happening to me. Scary! :-(

Oh, and by the way, the chipped molar is a result of grinding my teeth, which is terrifying. I always knew I had a grinding problem but this is big. I now need some special mouth piece when I sleep. Nothing says "irresistible" and "sexy" to your new husband like a massive retainer!

Wedding Update: 71 days to go - bridal portrait is booked for last weekend in Feb in Corpus Christi, bridesmaids dresses are VERY bright but they will work (the fit is great!), I have my shoes, undergarments have been ordered and bridal party gifts are being purchased!
