Texas State Fair 2011

My parents and I plan to make this a family tradition now that Grayson is here b/c the State Fair is just so much fun! We really wished Beau was able to make it like last year - I blogged about that here - but he just couldn't swing it with work. As always, the food was wonderful, the weather was PERFECT, the auto show made me want, want, want and Grayson had a blast! I didn't think to get pictures of all the great food but you better believe I have Grayson photos ;) I'll say it again: what a difference a year makes!
Grayson walking with his Pop - ball cap, plaid shirt, khakis
and running shoes - hard to believe they didn't get dressed together!
Loves pointing at (and chasing) birds
Playing with Mimi
Couldn't resist comparing our drawings - we
just happened to get the same artist both years!
Cheeks!
I can't think of a better way for to Grayson to learn his name.
Thanks for our name puzzle, Mimi!
I wanted to include this video because I just LOVE the way he walks right now. I know Grayson won't always weave and wobble (we call it the drunken sailor walk) so I want to remember it forever!

16 month old Guest Blogger

Guest blogger Grayson in the house! My Mom is too busy getting Brinkley's stomach pumped (something about how I'm not supposed to get food off the counter and feed it to him...I wasn't really listening)...so I thought I'd write about what I've been up to...

I like to put turkey and broccoli in my ears. It feels cool.

I like being naked.

I looove dogs. Especially golden retrievers. I think I'm going to get my mom one for Christmas. She's just so sweet and good to me. And to my Dad. She's really the best mom EVER. What was I saying? Oh, dogs. Love them!

I love my Dada! He's not here during the week so he really makes the weekends count! He's so nice...he should get my mom a golden retriever.

I like hugging my friends. But apparently I don't know how to let go. And we fall over. I'm working on that though!
My buddy, Aven Z. (15 mos)
I still only like to have 1 sock on.

I pose sometimes.

I got my second haircut and I'm a stud.

Brinkley and I are buddies. We pretty much play all day when we're home.

I really love being outside! But I know that I can't go in the sun without a hat on. Mimi's hat is perfect!
I can feed myself now.

I like rubbing noses with Mimi. But I still think my forehead is my nose. :)

More Questions Than Answers

This past Tuesday, October 11th, our dear friends Emily and Scott lost their 22 month old son, Logan. Our hearts are broken for them, our faith has been tested and we are all left with more questions than answers. How could he pass away so suddenly? Why them? How does a God so great let these things happen? Especially to new parents, the SWEETEST parents, Emily and Scott who have waited nearly a decade to be blessed with a family. Since we were brought together by Father Clay through a Life Group at Church just over a year ago, Beau and I have been lucky enough to see the Garretts go from a sweet couple who so badly wanted children to a family of four when the twins came into their lives just 6 short months ago. Since then, we have seen them be the loving parents that we knew they were meant to be.

This week has been one of the toughest of our lives leaving us feeling utterly helpless, lacking for words and with a huge hole in our hearts for them. I have had a chance to see the Garretts several times this week - they are strong but lost, if that makes any sense. Emily put it so well when she said that she knows that she is closer to God as a result of Logan's sweet nature and love in her heart. I know Logan's sister Olivia's smiles keep them strong - she's simply too young to understand what is going on. No doubt she faces a difficult road ahead. I don't think anyone understands what one twin feels without the other.

It hit me so hard this week that we can lose someone so fast, maybe not even get to say goodbye, and this terrifies me. Kiss your babies, hug your parents and siblings and love on your friends.

Love to all from the Reynolds!

We were just with these precious babies on Saturday for the Texas game.
I already posted these pictures but I can't stop looking at them.

Mr. & Mrs. Todd Jones - Azle, TX

Beau's little sister was married last night at the most adorable gardens in Azle, Texas! It was quite the drive for us since there is really no easy, straight shot but it was SO worth it! Kara and Todd did an excellent job planning the whole thing and everything went perfectly. I wish we had more pictures of the actual grounds and a panoramic of the area where the ceremony took place but it was really cool - slight hills and multi-level grounds made it really unique. The weather was PERFECT in the shade. At one point, I could help but think that it felt as though we were on a Hollywood set. Here are some pictures for you, most of Grayson (of course) before the ceremony and absolutely none of the reception (Beau is already pleading his case for needing some uber-fancy flash for his already-ridiculous camera). Hopefully, I'll get some pictures from her photographers b/c they got some really good ones!

Grayson and his BEAUTIFUL cousin, Payton.
Payton was a flower girl!
Playing with Mawmaw, his Great-Grandmother
Isn't she so cute?!
Bride at first sight
Uncle Reyn and a pacifier are the perfect recipe to keep him calm!
How cute would this be if he didn't have that terrible thing in his mouth?

Announced as Mr. & Mrs. Jones
The Smedberg's Destin wedding taught me that
LOLLIPOPS solve everything! :)
Cheers to Todd and Kara and a lifetime of happiness! And now that you've been married for 18 hours, when can we expect babies?! ;)

Texas/OU 2011

I was just looking back at my TX/OU post from last year and my, my, how things change! This year, we decided to hang out up north in Frisco instead of going to old faithful, Christie's with our Dallas friends! I also think it's pretty entertaining that I was whining about the outcome of the game last year (Texas lost 28-20). Ha, last year's score would have been a dream compared to this year's pounding of 55-17. But at least we had a wonderful time with our friends from Church and the Rockenbachs joined us as well. Here are some fun pictures.... :)
The Garrett twins, Olivia and Logan (22 mos) & Grayson (16 mos)
Pouting over that terrible performance
Grayson watching Emerson run away (20 mos)
We ended the day at the Anderson's house watching A&M/Texas Tech (A&M barely pulled off a win). They always make a great meal and give us good beer and of course, Piper and Grayson are hilarious together. Here are some terrible iPhone pics...
A couple that protests together, stays together.
I can't tell you all that happened right after this but there were tears.
Mainly from the 4 adults dying of laughter but a few from the kids too.
(Don't worry - no one was remotely hurt!)
